The City of Greer's new home for athletics, recreation, and community connection has hit some big milestones in the past few weeks. The Prisma Health Performance Center is now "in the dry," which means the exterior shell is built out and the structure is fully enclosed. The 200,000 square foot facility will house nine basketball courts that convert to 18 volleyball courts, a championship arena, community hall, mat room, cafe, fitness center, indoor walking track, and sports simulators.
Sports Equipment Going Up
The team has started installing basketball goals in the championship arena. That installation is a visual cue that in a few short months, the facility is going to be buzzing with activity. The city's Parks, Recreation, & Tourism department is already making plans to expand community programming when the center opens. In addition to reviving the city's boys basketball program, the staff is planning its first girls basketball leagues which will include 8U, 10U, and 12U teams. That's just the beginning of what the staff is planning for this new space.

New Website
Just this week, the Prisma Health Performance Center leadership team launched the facility's new website. Visitors to the site can learn about memberships, how to book space for an event, open play hours for the courts, and more. You can even check out the tournament calendar for 2027, which already has events booked in every month from February to December.
On the Right Path
Also this week, crews began pouring concrete for the section of the outdoor walking path near the wetlands area on the 26-acre property. The paved path will run from the S. Highway 14 entrance, around the building, along the wetlands area, and down to the S. Buncombe R. entrance. When it's finished, the path will be about a mile long. The path is labeled with the number 7 in the site map below.

Four Projects, ForGreer
The city announced in August that Prisma Health had signed a ten-year, $3 million naming rights agreement. The Prisma Health Performance Center is one of the ForGreer capital projects the city announced in the spring of 2024. Those four projects are designed to address the growing public safety and recreation needs of the Greer community whose population estimates now top 50,000 residents.
The Prisma Health Performance Center is construction is on track for a grand opening in early 2027.
